Itinerary: 4 Days Fes to Marrakech Sahara Desert Tour

DAY 1: Fes Ifrane Midelt Erfoud Merzouga Dunes (Erg Chebbi) :

Departure from your Fes riad or hotel at 8:00 AM. This is the longest driving day of the 4-day Fes Marrakech Desert tour, approximately 8 hours, but it is also one of the most scenically varied roads in Morocco.

The first stop is Ifrane, the neat alpine town in the Middle Atlas whose French-built chalets and manicured parks have earned it the nickname “Morocco’s Switzerland.” A world away from the desert you are heading toward.

Next, the Cedar Forest near Azrou is the largest cedar forest in North Africa and home to wild Barbary macaques who have become completely at ease with visitors. Feed them by hand, take photographs, and watch them leap through the ancient canopy. After crossing the open plateaus of the Middle Atlas, a lunch stop in Midelt breaks the journey perfectly.
As we continue south, the scenery changes, and you enter the dramatic Ziz Valley. From a panoramic viewpoint, you will see a wide green ribbon of date palms and oasis villages set deep in the red rock, one of Morocco’s most surprising sights. Traveling through Tafilalet, Erfoud, and Rissani, you will soon spot the first orange ridges of the Sahara Desert.

Your camels will be waiting at the edge of Merzouga. At sunset, you will ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes to reach our Merzouga desert camp, where dinner, drumming, and a sky full of stars await you.

Day 2: Erg Chebbi Rissani Todra Gorges :

After breakfast, camel trek once again to the hotel for a shower. We leave the Sahara desert rises of Erg Chebbi, a rough terrain drive over the hamada (black Desert) to get to the Sahara town of Rissani. Subsequently, we head north to Erfoud that is known for the fossils; here we can stop to visit a fossil workshop before we proceed to the amazing Todra valley, known for rock climbing, where you can walk before we drive to the Hotel, Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Off-Road Nomad Caves – Rose Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate

Breakfast at the hotel, we start our trip along the way of Thousand Kasbahs, since there are colossal kasbahs on both sides of the street. Some of the aforementioned old strengthened houses are restored however sadly a considerable measure of them are vestiges. 

We pass through Dades valley and continue off road to the rocky region , where numerous Berber villages and many nomads living in caverns, here we will have the opportunity to visit one of this families and investigate their day life and their fundamental movement “Looking after groups of goats & chirp”. Day 4: Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

After breakfast, we will start our trip by a visit of cinema studios found in Ouarzazate which is regarded as Hollywood of Africa. Subsequently we will visit the all inclusive Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou Kasbah as it has been named by Unesco in 1987. Ait Benhaddou is the World Heritage site that has been utilized as a setting for more than 20 movies incorporating “Gladiator” “Indiana Jones” and “Lawrence of Arabia”. 

Revel in a stroll to investigate the universal Moroccan style of construction modeling in which the Kasbahs are constructed.
