About This Tour

8 Day Casablanca Desert Tour: Overview

This 8 days from Casablanca desert tour covers more ground than a standard imperial-cities tour but we have paced it so it doesn’t feel rushed.

From Casablanca we drive inland to Rabat, Meknes and the Roman ruins of Volubilis before heading to Fes for a full day with a local guide. From here we follow the road into cedar forest country on the way to Merzouga and the dunes of Erg Chebbi, where a camel trek and a night in a desert camp form the backbone of the trip.

The return leg goes via Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou to Marrakech, with a day trip out to the coastal town of Essaouira, before the final drive back to Casablanca.

If you’re comparing this 8 days tour from Casablanca to a shorter 5- or 6-day option, this is our recommended itinerary for keeping every major stop—Fes, the dunes, Ait Ben Haddou, Marrakech, and Essaouira—in the loop without rushing any of them.
