About This Tour
8 Day Morocco Tour from Tangier: Overview
Most itineraries in Morocco start in Marrakech or Casablanca. This one begins in Tangier, where many travelers actually arrive first. If arriving by ferry from Spain or by plane into Tangier Ibn Battouta airport, this 8 day tour from Tangier allows you to begin your exploration immediately, rather than adding an additional transfer day.
Because this is a private 8 days Morocco tour, the vehicle, driver and schedule are exclusively yours. Stops can be added, shortened, or skipped, and the pace adjusts to your group rather than the other way around. Families, couples, and small groups all use this same 8 days in Morocco itinerary from Tangier as their base template.
Why Book This 8 Days Morocco Tour From Tangier
This Morocco 8 day tour itinerary involves the use of private transportation and a driver-guide to take care of you for all eight days, meaning that this itinerary is customized according to your preferences rather than being based on a predetermined schedule meant for a group. The tour begins from the coast of the Mediterranean and ends in Marrakech, allowing you to experience a diverse section of Morocco unlike other Morocco tours: Andalusian-influenced towns, an ancient Roman site, three imperial cities, mountain passes, and the dunes themselves.
As the driver and vehicle will remain the same during your entire journey, there won’t be any transfer from one driver to another, and no chance of schedule discrepancy for both parts of the tour.

DAY 3: A Whole Day in the Medina of Fez
Fez is set aside for a whole day because it is considered the cultural and intellectual capital of Morocco. Some of these sites include Bou Inania and Chahrij Madrasas, the Mosque of Karaouine housing the oldest university in the world, and Fes El-Jedid souks. As there is no set itinerary on this day, it is possible for people to stay at places according to their interests.

Day 4: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – forest of monkeys – Erfoud – Merzouga Erg chabbi.
This is the longest driving day, and also one of the most varied. The route passes through Ifrane, sometimes nicknamed the “Switzerland of Africa,” then Azrou, known for its cedar forest and woodcarving workshops. After crossing the Tizi Talghemt pass, the landscape opens into the arid plains of the Tafilalet before reaching Erfoud and, finally, the dunes of Merzouga. A 4×4 or camel transfer takes you to a Luxury desert camp for the night.
Here’s a few words on riding camels: It is not mandatory and you can avoid doing it, and go to the camp in a jeep for free instead. Or any other additional activities like a buggy or quad
Overnight: Desert camp in Erg Chebbi (breakfast & dinner included)

The day begins with the sunrise over the dunes, then after breakfast we will drive down through the palm groves of Rissani and Jorf along the Ziz River, then continue via the Ksar of Touroug and its surrounding oasis. In the afternoon, you pass through the Valley of Roses in the Dades Valley (especially spectacular in May) before arriving at Ouarzazate for the night.
Overnight: Hotel in Ouarzazate (breakfast & dinner included)
Day 6: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Talouet – Marrakech
Today’s drive to Marrakech crosses the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, at 2,260 meters. A detour along the way leads to the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The route continues to Telouet to see the former kasbah of the Glaoui Pasha of Marrakech, then climbs back over the pass, with sweeping views across the Haouz plain, before descending into Marrakech.
Overnight: Riad or hotel in Marrakech (breakfast included)
Day 7: Marrakech, full day
This day is entirely devoted to the visit of Marrakech, the town that lent its name to the entire country. Located under the shadow of snow-covered High Atlas, Marrakech has been the economic, cultural, and political center of the region for many years. In addition, Marrakech is known as the city of show: there are numerous shows in Jemaa el-Fna square – snake charmers, music, dances, storytellers, and fortune tellers entertain visitors all day and night.
